Walks and Events Programme for 2024
Cath Freeman is our new walks co-ordinator (telephone 01606 782892). Please notify her if you wish to arrange a walk for 2024 or to change the date that you have previously selected.
Jean Pritchett is responsible for publicising advance information about the proposed walks on this website (telephone 01606 76055 or email zpritchett@aol.com) and details for publication should be sent to her in good time so that information can be included in the walking programme. Information should include starting time and starting place of the walk, expected walking distance and likely walking conditions together with any potential hazards and whether walkers should bring drinks and refreshments. Also include if the walk will be suitable for dogs.
Walking dates for 2024
Please note that the days of our mid week evening walks planned for 2024 will be changed and will alternate between Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Walk Leaders should send full information about the proposed walk to Jean Pritchett for publication on the website approximately 3 weeks before the relevant date and although Cath Freeman is our Walks Co-ordinator, full details of the walk should also be sent to John Freeman in good time so that he can email individual members in advance. Additionally, if walk leaders are willing to do so, personal contact details should also be given to John so that this can be included in the emailed information - this can be particulary useful if potential walkers are delayed or lost on the way to the starting point and therefore likely to turn up later than the proposed starting time.
Sunday walks. These walks normally start at about 11 a.m. and can be further afield as walkers normally travel to the starting point by car. Distance can be for a distance of between 5 and 10 miles or even longer, depending on the likely walking conditions and the degree of difficulty.
Evening walks: These walks normally start in the early evening and are closer to home. Walking distance is normally up to 6 miles depending on walking conditions and hours of daylight.

Sunday, 7th April. Leader: Denise Davies. Location: Frodsham Golf Course.
Tuesday, 16th April. Leader - Mike and Sue Beresford. Location: Blakemere Centre.
Sunday 21st April. Leader: Sue and Dave Dawber. Location: Brereton and Swettenham.
Thursday 25th April Leader: Paul Everatt.
Location: Kelsall.
This is a circular walk of about 3.5 miles around Primrose Hill Wood involving mostly quiet roads, tracks and some wooded areas. The walk has some hilly sections but all have been chosen to avoid any boggy areas in view of recent weather conditions. There are no stiles.
Meet at 6 15 p.m. in Primrose Hill Wood car park, off Waste Lane (about half a mile up Waste Lane from the Farmers Arms turning) - map reference 535678 in OS map 117. Note that because of recent forestry work, the car parking is less than usual so car sharing would be adviseable.

Thursday 9th May Leaders: Fiona and Pete Baker.
Location: Marbury Country Park. This is an easy and flat 4 mile walk around Anderton and Marbury Country Park. There is one stile. Well behaved dogs are welcome but there is a possibility of lifestock in some fields and it can be muddy in places. The walk starts at 6.30 p.m. from the car park on the old road by the Stanley Arms, post code CW9 6AG.
Sunday, 19th May Leaders: Cath and John Freeman.
Location: Alderley Park to Alderley Edge.
This is a 6-7 mile undulating walk with one stile. It might be muddy in places and a walking stick could be useful. Meet at the Churchill Tree pub, Alderley Park, SK10 4ZG in the back car park for a 10.30 start. Bring a drink and a packed lunch although we will stop by a tea shop and toilets. Dogs are welcome.
